Sand & Aggregate Moisture Measurement Solution

Moisture variation in sand and aggregates can affect material weighing, water compensation and concrete consistency.
The MS-590 Online Microwave Moisture Analyzer provides continuous, non-contact moisture measurement for selected sand and aggregate materials on conveyors, helping operators identify moisture changes before batching and mixing.

Industry Challenges

The Problems This Solution Addresses

Changing Material Conditions Moisture may vary because of rain and weather exposure, washing processes, storage conditions, material sources, drainage time, transportation and handling.

Batching Deviation Unidentified moisture variation may affect actual dry-material quantity, water addition, mix proportions, batch consistency and production records.

Delayed Moisture Feedback Manual sampling and offline testing provide periodic results. Moisture changes occurring between samples may not be identified before the material enters the batching system.

Engineered Response

MOSYE Solution

Specific Solution

The MS-590 uses transmitting and receiving microwave antennas arranged around a selected conveyor measurement section.
Microwave signals pass through the sand or aggregate layer. Changes in the received microwave response are converted into continuous moisture data through a material-specific calibration model.
A typical installation point is a stable conveyor section before the weighing or batching system, with consistent material coverage and a clear microwave transmission path.
Laboratory testing can continue to support initial calibration and routine verification.

Solution Features

1. Non-Contact Microwave Measurement, Continuous Moisture Information, External Antenna Arrangement Uses microwave through-transmission without direct antenna contact with the abrasive material, provides continuous moisture data at the selected conveyor measurement section, and adopts transmitting and receiving microwave antennas positioned around the selected material path. 2. Material-Specific Calibration The calibration model is developed for the selected sand or aggregate and expected moisture range. 3. Trend and Alarm Support Measurement results can support continuous moisture trends and high or low deviation alarms. 4. Batching-System Integration Moisture data can be connected with PLC, DCS or batching-control systems.

Why MOSYE

Solution Advantages

Earlier Moisture Variation Detection Continuous measurement helps operators identify moisture changes between laboratory tests and respond earlier to changing material conditions.

Through-Layer Moisture Information Microwave signals pass through the selected material path, providing moisture information from within the effective measurement layer rather than only from its exposed surface. Actual coverage depends on antenna arrangement, material depth, conveyor conditions and the effective microwave propagation path.

Support for Batching Control Real-time moisture data can support evaluation and adjustment of dry-material quantity, added water, batch formulation, moisture alarms and production records. Automatic adjustment requires application-specific engineering, validation and commissioning.

Reduced Direct Sensor Wear The transmitting and receiving antennas remain outside the abrasive material flow and do not require direct contact with the sand or aggregates. This helps reduce direct mechanical wear at suitable conveyor measurement sections.
